3.5 Troubleshooting and Service

Should you encounter a problem in the operation of a UPS module and need MGE UPS Systems, Inc. to service your

product, please take into account the following recommendations.

To the extent that you feel comfortable with the unit, leave it in its current state, make a record of the display lights

and alarm messages and call either your local MGE Field Engineer or MGE’s Customer Support Services at 1-800-

438-7373 for assistance. Leaving the unit in its current state will enable MGE’s field engineers to troubleshoot your

product and bring it back on line more easily.

If you are not comfortable with the current status of the unit, you may want to take the following actions (listed by

order of increasing impact on ease of troubleshooting):

1.

If the audible alarm is active, reset it by pressing the audible alarm reset button, (the second button from the

left on the lower hidden panel, see Figure 1-11.

2.

Stop the inverter. See section 2.10 for normal and forced shutdown.

3.

Open the isolation circuit breaker Q5N.

4.

Open the battery circuit breaker(s) QF1.

5.

Reset the alarms by pressing the fault log clear button (the left most button on the lower hidden pane.l See

Figure 1-11.

6.

Open the input isolation circuit breaker Q1 or the upstream circuit breaker feeding Q1.

After taking these steps, make a record of the display lights and alarm messages, call your local MGE Field

Engineer or call
