When assigning the chosen Port # above, ALWAYS translate the forwarded port
to Port 6001. (Port 6001 is the TCP listening port configured on the Ethernet
modem in a later step for subnet communication.)
3.
Configure your Ethernet modem
a.
Using a PC that is, or will be on the same wired network as the Ethernet modem,
download and install LANTRONIX “Device Installer” version 4.2.0.0 from:
http://www.lantronix.com/ftp/DeviceInstaller/4.2.0.0/DI_4.2.0.0_Web.exe
b.
Device Installer 4.2.0.0 requires Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 to be installed. If need
this, it can be downloaded from:
http://www.baselinesystems.com/msdnet.html
c.
Power up the Ethernet modem and connect it to your wired network.
d.
Ensure your PC is connected to the same wired network as the Ethernet modem.
e.
Run the Device Installer application. Cancel out of any update prompts. On first run, a
window titled “Product Information Base (PIB) Viewer” will appear—close this. Behind
it should be a window titled “Lantronix DeviceInstaller 4.2.0.0”
Note: Unfortunately, Lantronix’s software occasionally displays errors. If possible, close
them and continue, otherwise restart the software and try again.

In Device Installer:
i.
Click the “Search” button, it should find 1 device. If there are multiple devices,
or unexpected devices listed, make sure you have the correct Network
Connection selected under the “Options” dialog.
ii.
The tree on the left should populate with new items and there should be a new
entry called “UDS1100-IAP” in the table to the right. Find the matching
Hardware address listed for this entry matches the value you recorded under
Field #4 on the Ethernet Modem Settings sheet. If there is no matching address,
that you are connected to the correct network. Your screen should look similar
to the one shown below:
Note: Lantronix’s software may report the status as “Unreachable”, despite the device being
“Online.” Proceed to the next step to determine whether the device is “Online.”
