Maintenance and Testing
SECTION 2 -- MAINTENANCE AND TESTING
2.1 PREVENTIVE
MAINTENANCE
The
DMXPathfinder will require a minimal amount of ongoing preventive
maintenance to ensure a long, trouble-free life for the equipment. Maintenance will
consist primarily of periodic cleaning and inspection of the distribution rack.
.1
Cleaning
Rack cleaning should be carried out once per year. Using compressed air at
no higher than 100 p.s.i., blow dust from any fans in the rack, the rear
terminal bay, and the entire front panel area. The plug-in modules may be
withdrawn enough to permit cleaning by removing the four captive screws on
each module, then carefully removing any dust buildup with compressed air.
Be certain that AC power is turned off before pulling out any modules.
Exterior surfaces may be cleaned with a soft cloth and household spray
cleaner. Do not use any type of spray cleaner directly on the module
surfaces, as cleaning solutions may foul the female connectors and damage
the opto-repeater module faceplates. Instead, use a soft dry cloth to wipe
away any foreign material.
.2
Inspection
Annual inspections of major system components should be carried out,
preferably at the same time cleaning is done. Plug-in module circuit boards
should be inspected for any signs of overheating, mainly in the voltage
regulator (heat sink) and power transformer areas. Inspect the rear terminal
area for loose wire connections and retighten as necessary.
