• For three-phase electric
motors, the connections
must be done exactly
according to the manufacturer’s
instructions with setting the switching
time to 3 sec +- 30% as recommended.
For special configurations of electric
motors with anti-explosion protection,
increased security, or increased
temperature class, the connection must
be made through the safety
switch.
• The direction of the electric motor
rotation must be the same as the
direction of the arrow on the pump
casing. Check by starting and
immediately shutting down. If the
direction of the motor rotations is
opposite, change two phases L1, L2, or
L3 of the electric power with clips.
6.3 System conditions of the
pump
The pump together with the piping
system must have the following
conditions assured:
• It must be filled with the medium.
• The suction piping up to the pump
must have all the air bled out.
• All additional connections that prevent
the flow of medium past the pump must
be closed.
• The lock valves on the piping on the
pressure side of the pump must be
closed.
• The protection of all rotating parts
must be implemented as required by
the safety at work regulations.
• When starting the pump, the lock
valve on the pressure side of the pump
must slowly be opened, after the
electric motor has reached the highest
rotations.
• With the increase of the medium
temperature and possible leakage of
the medium at the contacts protected
by seals, care should be taken that the
screws are properly fastened, and in
the case of excessive dripping, the
screws should be tightened.
• The shutdown of the pump should
also be implemented with certain rules.
Before the shutdown of the pipe, all
valves on the pressure side of the
pump should be closed, this is essential
in avoiding backpressure. It is also
important during shut-down that the
lock valves on the suction piping are
open.
• Higher temperatures can be
dangerous during dismantling, so the
flow of a cooler medium must be
assured before stopping the pump.
The electric motor must be stopped
steadily without any forcible
interventions to the pump.
• The medium in the system
must not have temperatures
that are too low due to
potential freezing, which
must be prevented, including releasing
the medium from the system.
• Before dismantling the
pump, it is necessary to
mechanically disconnect the
cables from the connection
cabinet and prevent a possible start-up
of the pump. We close the valves on
the suction piping, control the lock on
the pressure side, and prepare the
pump for dismantling.
