Remove the lens
cap from the lens.

Align the
POWER/Function
Switch with REC.
Point the camera at the sub-
ject, compose the image on
the monitor screen, and press
the shutter release button half
way to focus the image.
After confirming that the Auto
Focus operation is complete (the
operation lamp lights green),
press the shutter release button
all the way down to record the im-
age.
