Blinking alarms: In systems where the blinkWhenUnacknowledged option is enabled,

acknowledging a blinking alarm does not always stop all associated blinking elements on the iC Web page. For
instance, clicking the Acknowledge button may stop blinking in the Channel Selector area but not in the Cycler
view; right-clicking a blinking alarm indicator in the Cycler view, and then clicking Acknowledge on the shortcut
menu may stop blinking in the cycler view but not in the Channel Selector area.

Workaround: Manually acknowledge any remaining blinking element—right-click the element you wish to stop blinking (or
a parent element), and then click Acknowledge on the shortcut menu.

After restarting the GSM, unnecessary tab buttons may appear at the bottom of the Channel Selector

area.

Workaround: Once the script has finished loading, refresh the page.

When an iControl Edge Web page is already open on your client PC or laptop, if you open another page with a
different resolution from the same iC Web client, some elements of the new page (e.g. buttons) may be
incorrectly positioned.

Workaround: Close iC Web and open it again to before opening the desired page.

Pre-Installation Instructions

Your primary reference for deploying your system is the iControl Edge Installation & Setup Guide that you will find
directly on the Application Server. To access this document, you need to start the Application Server and connect it
to your network.

First make sure the following items have been shipped with your Application Server:

… Application Server unit (Dell PowerEdge 850, 860, or R200 server)
… Rack mounting kit (rails, screws and washers)
… Power cord

Step 1: Configuring a Client PC or Laptop’s Network Settings

You must use a client PC or laptop to configure your iControl Edge Application Server. The PC or laptop will need to
have its network settings temporarily changed to ones that will allow it to communicate with the server in its initial
default state.

To configure the TCP/IP network settings of a client PC or laptop:

1. Open your PC’s Network Connections control panel (on the Windows XP Start menu, point to Control Panel,

and then click Network Connections).

2. Right-click the currently active Local Area Connection, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu.

3. In the Local Area Connection Properties window, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click

Properties.

4. In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window, click Use the following IP address.
