Appendix A
AHCI
The installation steps below will guide you in configuring your SATA drive to AHCI mode.
1. Enter the BIOS utility and configure the SATA controller to IDE mode.
2. Install Windows XP but do not press F6.
3. Download relevant RAID/AHCI driver files supported by the motherboard chipset from
Intel’s website.
Transfer the downloaded
driver files to C:\AHCI.
4. Open Device Manager and
right click on one of the
Intel Serial ATA Storage
Controllers, then select
Update Driver.
If the controller you
selected did not work, try
selecting another one.
5. In the Hardware Update
Wizard dialog box, select
“No, not this time” then
click Next.
6. Select “Install from a
list or specific location
(Advanced)” and then
click Next.
7. Select “Don’t search. I
will choose the driver
to install” and then click
Next.
