Ceiling Installation
This kit can be used for either suspended ceiling tiles or for hard surface ceilings.
For suspended ceiling tiles:
1) Remove a ceiling tile and set it on a fi rm surface.
1) Use the ceiling plate to mark fi ve holes in the ceiling tile where the Astronaut is to hang.
Drill or tap ¼" holes for the 4 aluminum bolts and a ½" hole in the center for the security
eye bolt.
2) The black metal plate is used above the tile. The threaded nuts face upwards so the fl at
surface of the plate fi ts fl ush to the top (inside) of the tile.
3) Use the 4 machine bolts to “sandwich” the ceiling tile. Do not over tighten, snug will do.
4) Place ceiling tile back into the ceiling grid. Align the Astronaut speaker with its mounting
toggles and gently push the speaker fl ush to the plastic plate. Once all four toggles are
seated, give a very small and gentle turn clockwise until the toggles “click” onto the speaker
base. The alignment pointer is above the face plate and should be dead center above the
“hash” mark.
5) Once the speaker is attached to the bracket, screw the eye bolt through the top of the
ceiling plate and into the Astronaut base.
6) If desired, use a suspension wire (no supplied) to attach the eye bolt to the ceiling truss.

For hard surface ceilings:
NOTE: The security eye bolt is not used for hard surface installations.
1) Use the ceiling plate to mark four holes in the ceiling where the Astronaut is to hang.
Drill pilot holes for ¼" wood or metal screws.
2) Make sure to use fl at-head screws so that they do not interfere with the mounting of
the Astronaut.
3) Do not over tighten, snug will do; otherwise the plastic plate may break.
4) Align the Astronaut speaker with its mounting toggles and gently push the speaker fl ush
to the plastic plate. Once all four toggles are seated, give a very small and gentle turn
clockwise until the toggles “click” onto the speaker base. The alignment pointer is above
the face plate and should be dead center above the “hash” mark when properly locked.
5) Make all further connections as required. (See separate Astronaut Quick Start Guide)
