Problem/Symptom
Cause
Action/cure
1. Poor or no flow from shower
a) Water supplies closed
b) Shower mixer blocked
c) Blockage in pipework
d) Showerhead blocked
e) Reduced flow rate when other outlets in use
Check other outlets in property
Check inlets filters for blockages
Check pipework for blockage
Clean sprayplate or replace
Check service valves are fully open
Reduce simultaneous demand
2. Shower will not shut off
a) Debris on shut off faces
b) Shut off seals damaged / ceramic disk
damaged
Clean/replace washer
Replace headwork
3. Water too cold
a) Not enough hot water flowing through the
mixer
b) Decrease in the ambient cold water
temperature
c) Insufficient hot water delivery from the
heating appliance
d) Hot supply restricted
Turn temperature control to hotter setting
(Adjust maximum temperature setting)
Turn temperature control to hotter setting
Ensure heating appliance is set to maximum hot
water output
Check for restrictions in pipework
4. Water too hot
a) Not enough cold water flowing through the
mixer
b) Increase in the ambient cold water
temperature
c) Cold supply restricted
Turn temperature control to cooler setting
Turn temperature control to cooler setting
Check for restrictions in pipework
5. Shower varies from normal
temperature to cold during use
a) Hot water temperature has dropped below
minimum required
Wait until the hot water temperature resumes to
normal
6. Fluctuation of mixed
temperature
a) Connections inverted
b) Mixer inverted
Invert the mixer if possible or
Use a “reverse cartridge”
7. Hot water clock wise
Cold water anti-clock wise
a) Connections inverted
b) Mixer inverted
Invert the mixer if possible or
Use a “reverse cartridge”
