Building the Kernel and Root File System Images

2.1

Overview

This chapter describes how to build Kernel and a root file system with Wind River PNE3.0 SP 2
for PrAMC-7211 using the Workbench 3.0.

2.2

Prerequisites

Wind River PNE3.0 (Service Pack 2 (PNE3.0.2)) toolchain and Wind River Workbench 3.0 must
be installed on your local Linux RedHat (V4 +) PC. Contact your local vendor for PNE 3.0
toolchain and Workbench software. You should have the prior knowledge of installing the
Wind River PNE.

Untar the file PrAMC721x-WR-3.0-BBS-RM01-1.0.2.tar.bz2 (for example, you can
untar the file in /home/wind).

Under /PrAMC721x-WR-3.0-BBS-RM01-1.0.2/bsp
directory, bsp.tar.bz2 is present, which contains the custom layer and templates.

Untar bsp.tar.bz2, for example, you can untar the file in /home/wind/ with read and
write permissions. This directory is used to pick layers. After untarring this file, you should have
the structure as follows:

/bsp/custom_layer/templates/board

/bsp/custom_layer/dist

/bsp/custom_layer/packages

/bsp/custom_layer/ kernel-emrsn_pramc7211-

cache.

Refer

Appendix A, Packaging, on page 25

for details of LSP directory structure and content.

Refer

Appendix B, Copy Script, on page 31

for the script copy_script_7211.sh, which

should be used after completion of Wind River build process.

2.3

Procedure

Log in as a non-root user. Make sure that /etc/sudoers file has the following line appended
in User Privilege Section, otherwise Workbench will not work properly.
