3 Troubleshooting
3.1 Self-testing
When the device is powered on, the power LED(s) will illuminate and remain lit
depending on which inputs are being powered. All LEDs on the RJ45 ports will flash
once, then the port LEDs will illuminate in turn starting with port 5, finally the RJ45
port LEDs will flash once more.
If problems are encountered when using this Ethernet switch please check the
following:
• Verify that the correct power supply unit is being used; this unit requires a
48Vdc supply.
• Ensure that the correct cables are being used to construct your network:
o Unshielded Twisted Pair or Shielded Twisted Pair for RJ45 connections
o 100Ω Cat 3 cable or above for 10Mbps connections
o 100Ω Cat 5 cable or above for 100Mbps connections
o 100Ω Cat 5e cable or above for 1000Mbps connections
o Twisted pair connection must not exceed 100m (328 feet)
• See section 2.7 for LED status indicators.
