5 Networking & Configurations
The ESML6-P3 offers 6, RJ45 10/100Base-TX ports each of which can be connected
to terminal devices directly or to another industrial Ethernet switch or hub. The
ESML6-P3 also has 3 redundant Gigabit SFP ports which can be configured as either
fiber or twisted pair ports. Two of these Gigabit ports can be used to form a ring
network whilst the other can be used as an uplink port. The recovery time for the
ring network is less than 50ms. A typical redundant ring set up is shown in Figure
5.1 below.
