CEL-209 MULTI-POLE ATTENUATOR

Introduction

This unit is an accessory for use with the CEL-206 Disco Noise Limiter in those situations
where more than four signal lines need to be controlled. By use of these extension units the
number of controlled lines nay be increased to twenty-eight.

1 Technical Description

The units comprise twelve channels each having its own input and output connectors and upon
receipt of the control command from the associated CEL206, attenuation is switched into these
signal lines. For more complex installations two 12-channel units may be interconnected which,
with the four channels provided on the CEL-206, gives the twenty-eight controlled circuits.
Each unit is housed in a die cast aluminium container and draws its power supplies via the
associated disco noise limiter.

2 Installation

2.1 Schedule of Parts

The description of CEL-209 Multi-Pole Attenuator unit refers to the following items and upon
receipt should be checked against this schedule.

CEL-209

Multi-Pole Attenuator Unit

CEL-3541 CEL-206/CEL-209 Cable (1 metre)

2.2 Connection and Operation

The main unit should be mounted on the masonry adjacent to the CEL-206 Disco Noise Limiter and
interconnection made between the two units with the CEL-3541 cable provided. This connects
between the accessory socket located on the right-hand side of the CEL-206 and either of the
two sockets on the CEL-209. If a second CEL-209 is employed it is connected to the 'free'
socket on the first CEL-209. Similarly, if a CEL-208 Multi-Threshold Unit is to be used this is
connected to the free socket on one of the CEL-209s. It is a good practice to secure the
interconnecting cable with suitable cable clamps to ensure that it is not removed; however, if
it is, the attenuators will revert to the normally-in mode.
