5.4.2 Draining the collecting container
The collecting container must be drained after the expansion relief valve
has been triggered.
• Make sure that the solar fluid has cooled down before you drain the
collecting container.
• Remove the safety cap from the expansion relief valve.
• Drain the collecting container into a vessel that is suitable for solar
fluid.
• Dispose of the removed solar fluid correctly.
5.5 Maintenance
• At least once a year, check that the collecting container's basic filling
level (1 litre) is correct.
5.6 Notes on the piping system
a DANGER:
Risk of personal injury and material damage due to escaping
hot solar fluid!
Hot solar fluid can damage plastic pipes and consequently
escape.
- Use copper pipes.
Caution:
Press fittings that are not temperature resistant may damage
the solar energy system! Press fittings must be designed for
temperatures up to 200 o C - otherwise, the press fittings may
start to leak.
- Ask the manufacturer of the press fittings whether the press
fittings are solar resistant.
6 Handing over to the operator
You must inform the operator of the unit about the handling and function
of their collecting container.
• Provide the operator with all relevant instructions and unit
documentation for safe-keeping.
• Go through the operating instructions with the operator.
• Answer any questions the operator may have.
• Draw special attention to the safety information which the operator
must follow.
• Inform the operator of the necessity to ensure that the system
is regularly inspected/maintained (inspection and maintenance
contract).
• Make the operator aware of the need to keep the instructions near the
collecting container.
7 Customer service
Servicing/maintenance should be carried out by a competent person
approved at the time by the Health and Safety Executive in accordance
with the rules in force in the countries of destination.
