Dirty air cap. Clean air cap.

Screw not open enough. Open fluid adjusting screw.

Stainer nut. Packing nut loose.
Packing worn or dry.
Tighten, but not so tight as to grip needle.
Replace packing or lubricate. See “Mainte­
