Separate the union on the economizer pipe and
remove the lower half of the union from the
economizer outlet.
5.
Undo the four economizer retainer nuts. (see
Figure 14). Remove the boiler drain valve.
6.
Undo the four clamps that hold the outer shroud
to the upper head. (see Figure 14)
7.
Drop the economizer, inner shroud and outer
shroud together by separating the upper head and
outer shroud.
8.
Clean combustion coil with a wire brush.
9.
Reassembly is done in reverse order. Use
silicone sealer to seal joint between upped head
and outer shroud.
5.6 Combined Water (potable) Heating
and Space Heating
(see Figure 15)
Piping and components connected to this water
heater for the space heating application shall be
suitable for use with potable water.
Toxic chemicals, such as used for boiler
treatment, shall not be introduced into the potable
water used for space heating.
This water heater when used to supply potable
water shall not be connected to any heating system or
component(s) previously used with a nonpotable
water heating appliance.
When the system requires water for heating at
temperatures higher than required for other uses, an
anti-scald mixing or tempering valve shall be installed
to temper the water for those uses in order to reduce
scald hazard potential.
