TROUBLESHOOTING CHART
PROBLEM LED STATUS POSSIBLE CAUSE(S) CORRECTIVE ACTION

Electronic control module offer pilot Check wiring harness for proper connection.
flame off Ignite pilot flame.
1 flash *
Electronic control module is powered
and pilot lit. Normal operation. No action required.
Inspect thermopile connection to gas control
valve/thermostat.
2 flashes * Thermopile voltage low.
Inspect flame coverage on thermopile.
Check inlet gas pressure.
Run open circuit thermopile output test and
replace pilot assembly if output is below 350 mV.
Restart gas control valve.
3 flashes * Gas valve or tank sensor failure.
If main burner turns on after restart, replace
tank sensor.
If main burner does not turn on after restart,
replace gas valve assembly.
4 flashes *
Gas control valve overheat failure
(pilot off or burner off). Replace gas control valve/thermostat.
Verify tank sensor is connected to electronic
control module.
5 flashes *
Lower tank sensor failure (pilot on
and burner off).
Verify tank sensor is connected to the heater
tank.
Run tank sensor calibration check.
Replace tank sensor and electronic control
module.
GAS CONTROL
VALVE/
THERMOSTAT
Verify tank sensor is connected to electronic
control module.

Upper tank sensor failure (pilot on
and burner off).
Verify tank sensor is connected to the heater
tank.
Run tank sensor calibration check.
Replace tank sensor and electronic control
module.
7 flashes *
Electronic control module failure
(pilot on or off and burner off). Replace electronic control module.
8 flashes *
Gas control valve failure (pilot off
and burner off). Replace gas control valve/thermostat.
6 second solid light
followed by 4 flashes * Pilot stays lit only when control knob
is depressed in PILOT position. Overheat failure. Replace gas control valve/
thermostat.
6 second solid light
followed by 7 flashes * Pilot stays lit only when control knob
is depressed in PILOT position. Electronic control module failure. Replace
module.
6 second solid light
followed by 8 flashes * Pilot stays lit only when control knob
is depressed in PILOT position. Gas control valve failure. Replace gas control
valve/thermostat.
