Multiple Methods for Document Feeding
● Scan multipage documents at up to 20 pages per minute (for single-
sided documents) using the built-in feeder. The scanner can detect
documents that are loaded into the feeder and begin scanning
automatically using the auto-start function.
● Use the flatbed to scan documents that cannot be scanned through
the feeder (thin documents, documents that do not feed smoothly,
magazines and thicker documents, etc.).
● Feed and scan up to 15 business cards at a time using the built-in
business card feeder.
Easy Scanning with Job Functions
Start scan procedures using the buttons on the operation panel
without having to open an application program.
Wide Range of Black and White and Full
Color Scanning
● Scan documents in 24-bit color or 256-level grayscale.
● Scanning in black-and-white (binary) is also possible. Use the
advanced text enhancement modes to clarify text when scanning
documents with dark backgrounds or faint text.
● Use the color smoothing mode to reduce the occurrence of moiré
patterns when scanning color images from a magazine, for
example.
Prescan Function
At the start of scanning, this function prescans the first page of a
document and pauses so that you can use the first image to adjust the
brightness and contrast before scanning resumes.
Energy Efficient Design
This scanner conforms to international Energy Star program
standards, and enters a sleep mode when it is not scanning.
Variety of Image Processing Options
● Auto Paper Size Detection
Detect the document page size while scanning. This also removes
the blank space that surrounds an image when a document of a
non-standard size is scanned.
● Text Orientation Recognition
Detect the text orientation on each document page, and rotate the
scanned image in 90-degree increments as necessary for
normalization. (This function may not work properly depending on
the document type.)
● Deskew
Detect whether a document has been fed askew image, and
straighten the image as necessary.
