CALIFORNIA EMISSION CONTROL WARRANTY STATEMENT
The Calrfomia Air Resources Board and Sears are pleased to eiplain the
emission control system wananty on your 1996 and later lawn and garden
equipment engine. In California, new lawn artd garden equIpmerU en^nes
must be designed, built, and equipped to meet the stale’s stringent anti-smog
standards. Sears must warrant the emission control system on your lawn and
garden equipment engine lor the period of time Hsted below provided there
has been no abuse, neglect, or improper maintenance of your lawn and
garden equipment engine.
Your emis^n control system includes parts such as the carburetor or fuel
injected system, the ignidon system, and connectors and other endssion-
related a^emblies.
Where a warrantable condition e»sls. Sears win repairyour lawn and garden
equipment engine at no cost to you including diagnosis, parts, and labor,
MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY COVERAGE:
The 1996 and later lawn and garden equipment engines are warranted for two
years, if any emission-related part on your engine Is defective, the part will be
repaired or replaced by Sears.
OWNER'S WARRANTY RESPONSIBILITIES;
As the lawn and garden equipment engine owner, you are responsUe for the
performance of the requlr^ maintenance listed in your Operator's Manual.
Sears recommends that you retain all receipts covering ntaintenance on your
lawn and garden equipment engine. Sears cannot deny warranty solely lor die
lack of receipts or for your failure to ensure the peifonnance of al scherUed
maintenance.
As the lawn and garden equipment engine owner, you should however be
aware that Sears may deny you warranty coverage if your lawn and garden
equipment angina or a part has faded due to abuse, neglect IrtYtfOpOf
mEdntenance or unapproved modifications.
You are responsible for presenting your lawn and garden equipment engine to
a Sears repair canter as soon as a problem exists. The wananty repairs
should be completed In a reasonable агтюиШ Ы time, not to exceed 30 days.

WARRANTY COMMENCEMENT DATE
The warranty period begins on the date the equipment Is purchased by
a retail customer.
B.
LENGTH OF WARRANTY COVERAGE
Sears warrants to the inlHal ovmer and each subsequent purchaser that
the engine Is free from defects in materials and workmanship for a
period of two years from date of original purchase from Sears. .
C.
WHAT IS COVERED
1.
REPAIR OR REPLACEMEhTT OF PARTS
Repair orraplacement of any warranted part win be performed at
no charge to №e owner at a warranty stabon. To locate a
warranty station, you may call Sears at 1-60O-473-7247, (24
hours, 7 days a week).
2.
WARRANTY PERIOD .
Any warranted part which Is not scheduled for replacement as
required maintenance, or which is scheduled only for regular
inspection to the effect of ‘repair or re^ce as necessary shall
be warranted for the warranty period. Any warranted part which is
scheduled for replacement as required maintenance shall be
warranted for the period ol time up to the first scheduled
replacement point lor that part.

DIAGNOSIS
The owner shall not be charged for diagnostk; labor, which leads
to the determination that a warranted part Is defective, И the
diagnostic work Is performed at Sears.

CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES
The engine manufacturer is liable tor damages to the engine
components caused by the failure of a warranted part sbil under
warranty.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED
1. Failures caused by abuse, neglect, or improper rnalntenance.
Add-on or modified parts. The use of add-on or morfified parts can
be grounds for rfisallowing a warranty claim. The engine
manufacturer is not liable to cover failures of warranted parts
caused by the use of add-on or modHIed parts.
Any Indirect or consequential damages that may result from the
failure or malfunction of the Sears producL Soma states do not
allow the exclusion or limitation of consequential damages so
these limitations may not apply to you.
Nornial seivica requirements arising during the warranty period
such as carburetor or ignition adjustment, dearring, normal wear,
lubrication, spark plugs, filters, starter ropes, etc.
Normal service work over and above the repair or replacement of
defective parts.
Any failure that results from an accident, custorrwr abuse, normal
wear, naglact or failure to operate the product in accordance with
the Instructions provided in the Operators Manual or provided
with the product.

Operation of an engine with an incorrect fuetofi rafio, air filter
removed or speeds in excess of Sears' recommendations {U
applicable).
Transportatlan costs associated with delivering and return of
product to a Sears warranty station.

HOW TO FILE A CLAIM

Warranty claims must be received at Sears within 60 days of №s date

RELATED PARTS
Seats replecemsnt parts must bs used in the performance of any
warranty maintenance or repairs on emissfon-related parts and wifi be
provided without charge during the warranty period.

EMISSION CONTROL WARRANTY PARTS LIST
Sears' warranty Includes the fofiowing parts (unless said part was
scheduled lor replacement as required maintenance): Air Filtaf, Fuel
Filter. Carburetor and Internal parts. Choke Mechanism, intaks
Manifold, Spark Plug, Flywhaal, IgnlBon Module.

MAINTENANCE STATEMENTS
Follow normal maintenance service, recommended fuel mixture (where
applicabiB), liforicaUon, operation and storage of the product as
ex^alned in the Operator's Manual. The owner shall not be charged for
diagnosbc labor, which leads to the detenrination that a warranted part
Is defective, if the diagnostic work Is performed at Seats.
