value from warranty, operator must maintain the equipment as

•
Changing of engine-governed speed will void engine warranty.
•
All adjustments should be checked at least once each season.
•
Periodically check all fasteners and make sure these are tight.
ENGINE MAINTENANCE
Spark Plug
For good performance, the spark plug must be properly gapped and
free of deposits. Replace the spark plug annually.
1.
Disconnect the cap from the spark plug, and remove any dirt from
the spark plug area.
2.
Use the proper size spark plug wrench to remove the spark plug.
NOTE: Replace with a Champion® RC12YC spark plug.
3.
Check the gap with a wire gauge. See Figure 12. Spark plug gap
should be 0.020 in (0.51 mm). If necessary, reset the gap.
4.
Install and tighten the spark plug to the recommended torque (180
lb-in [20 Nmj).
5.
Attach the spark plug cap to the spark plug.
Air Cleaner
A dirty air cleaner will restrict airflow to the carburetor and cause poor
engine performance. Inspect the filter each time the engine is oper
ated. You will need to clean the filter more frequently it you operate the
engine in very dusty areas.
Clean the air cleaner every 50 hours of operation or once a season.
Replace the air cleaner annually.
A
warning
Never start or run the engine with the air cleaner assembly or the air
filter removed.
NOTE: Do not use pressurized air or solvents to clean the filter. Pres
surized air can damage the filter and solvents will dissolve the filter.
1.
Remove the fastener and air cleaner cover. See Figure 13.
2.
Remove the pre-cleaner (it equipped) and filter.
3.
To loosen debris, gently tap the filter on a hard surface. If filter is
excessively dirty, replace with a new filter.
Wash the pre-cleaner in liquid detergent and water and allow it to
thoroughly air dry. Do not oil the pre-cleaner.
Assemble the dry pre-cleaner to the filter.
Install the filter and pre-cleaner into the base. Make sure filter fits
securely in the base.
Install air filter cover and secure with fastener. Make sure the
fastener is tight.
