SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS
TO ADJUST BRAKE (See Fig. 26)
Your unit is equipped with an adjustable brake system
which is mounted on the right side of the transaxle.
If unit requires more than six (6) feet stopping distance at
high speed in highest gear, then brake must be adjusted.
•
Depress clutch/brake pedal and engage parking brake.
•
Measure distance between brake operating arm and
nut "A" on brake rod.
•
If distance is other than 1-1/2", disengage parking
brake, loosen jam nut and turn nut "A" until distance
becomes 1-1/2" Retighten jam nut against nut "A".
•
Engage parking brake and recheck distance
•
Road test unit for proper stopping distance as stated
above. Readjust if necessary, if stopping distance is
stiti greater than six (6) feet in highest gear, further
maintenance is necessary. Contact your nearest Sears
Service Center.
TO REPLACE MOTION DRIVE BELT (See
Figs. 27 and 28)
Park the tractor on level surface. Engage parking brake.
For ease of service, remove rear drawbar from chassis and
belt keeper from transmission input puiiey. For assistance,
there is a belt installation guide decal on bottom side of left
footrest
•
Remove mower (See "TO REMOVE MOWER" in this
section of this manual)
•
Remove belt from stationary idler and clutching pulley.
•
Remove belt downwards from upper sheave of engine
pulley
• Remove belt carefully upwards from transmission input
pulley and over cooling fan blades.
•
Remove belt downwards from lower sheave of engine
puiiey
■ install new belt by reversing above procedure.
IWIPORTANT: REPLACE ONLY WITH BELT LISTED IN
THIS MANUAL
