Replay profile
Collection of Replay rules that can be used for creating a Replay.
replicating system
Storage Center system being Replicated.
replication
Copying data to a remote location, online and in real time, via the internet or a corporate-
leased line connection.
restore points
Information stored by the Data Collector about the current state of Replications between
Storage Centers, including what volumes are being replicated, to where, what QoS node
Replications are using, and Source volume properties
S
SCSI (Small Computer Systems Interface)
Collection of ANSI standards which define I/O buses primarily intended for connecting
storage devices to servers.
server
Name representing the actual WWNs installed on the server.
Space Recovery
Utility that recovers space that Windows reports as being used but is actually empty,
available space that can be used by Storage Center.
spare disk
Disk reserved to replace a disk of same or smaller size in the event a disk in RAID 5 logical
unit fails. The controller rewrites the data from the failed disk to the replacement disk on the
fly.
starting base price
In Chargeback: The actual amount of storage that the base price covers before the
Department is charged for storage.
storage usage
Amount of space consumed by volumes on the disk (including Replays and RAID
overhead).
synchronous replication
Each write to the local site is written to the remote site before the application receives an I/
O complete message. The local volume and remote volume are fully synchronized at all
times. This redundancy ensures a near-zero loss of data and very quick recovery times
from failures at the local site.
