Finger Meter Charts
The basic seed rate for finger meters is determined by:
• meter drive configuration, and
• the meter finger count (6 or 12).
Finger meters have two additional adjustments for opti-
mum results:
1.
Meter brush (see page 42)
2.
Twin row indexing (see page 58)(For all seed corn
types)
IMPORTANT !
Great Plains always recommends test stand calibra-
tion of the finger meter to the population and ground
speed desired.
IMPORTANT !
Recommended speed is 4
1
⁄
2
to 5 miles per hour.
Excess speeds are known to deteriorate seed spacing
control and depth control.
Reading a Finger Meter Rate Chart
1.
Consult the chart for your row spacing and meter
type.
2.
Find the desired seed population or seed spacing.
3.
Note the range of meter rpms suitable for that popu-
lation.
IMPORTANT !
The shaded rpms are the recommended rpms for
most consistent results. Use the recommended driving
speed if possible.
4.
Each chart page shows the Range and Upper Drive
sprockets at the upper left.
5.
The Transmission sprockets are in the table, found
to the left of the Population.
