ASSEMBLY

1) Remove the vacuum lifter’s components from the shipping containers, using care to avoid

damaging any vacuum pads. Save the containers for use whenever the lifter is transported.

2) Suspend the lift frame from a crane as follows: Select hoisting equipment (crane and hoist,

when applicable) rated to carry the maximum load weight plus the lifter weight (see
SPECIFICATIONS: Maximum Load Capacity and Lifter Weight).
Note: Any application of the lifter must conform to all statutory or regulatory standards that

relate to the hoisting equipment when used in its geographical location (eg, relevant OSHA

standards in the USA).

WARNING: Hoisting equipment hook must be fitted with restraining latch to

prevent lift spool from slipping off under any circumstances.

Attach the hoisting equipment hook to the lift spool of the lift frame.
Note: Some hoisting equipment hooks could interfere with an upright load that extends

beyond the lifter's pad channels. If the load would contact the hook during lifter operation,
the operator must prevent this by attaching a sling (or other rigging that does not interfere

with the load) between the hook and the lift spool.

WARNING: Any sling used must be rated to carry maximum load weight plus

lifter weight.

3) Assemble the lifter components as follows: Place the pad channels parallel to one another,

with the pads facing downward on a clean, flat surface.
Position the lift frame over the pad channels, and lower the lift frame so that the tilt lugs (at

each end of the crossbar) fit between the channel rails, near the center of each pad channel.
Then align the tilt lugs with the mounting holes in the channel rails (see illustration in
OPERATING FEATURES).
Place a flat washer on one tilt pin, and insert the tilt pin through the channel rails and the tilt

lugs on one pad channel. Make sure the tilt pin fits underneath the pad channel's vacuum

hoses and wiring, in order to avoid damaging them while the lifter is in use.

CAUTION: Do not place tilt pin on top of vacuum hoses or wiring.

Place another flat washer on the tilt pin (outside the channel rail), screw the nut onto the tilt

pin finger tight and insert the cotter pin, in that order. Repeat this procedure to attach the
second pad channel to the lift frame.
Use the hoisting equipment to raise the lifter off the floor. Remove the pad covers and save

them for use whenever the lifter is stored.

4) Connect the electrical connectors uniting each battery to the corresponding battery charger

and the corresponding vacuum generating system. Do this on both pad channels. The lifter
is now operational.

5) Perform Operational and Load Tests for the lifter as directed in MAINTENANCE: T
