9. TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
Is the Heater burning ?
YES
The system is working properly.
STOP!
Check voltage from the transformer,
Check electrical connection at the trans-
former,
Check line voltage to the primary side of
the transformer
Check electrical connection from the
control panel to the ignition control module.
Ensure low voltage wires are properly
installed; as the wiring polarity is critical,
Check the transformer VA rating.
(Requires 40VA per heater
Ensure the igniters are correctly gapped.
Check igniter ceramic for cracks, replace
igniter if necessary,
Check that the ignition module output to the
spark generator is 24 volts. If not, replace
module. If yes complete the following test.
Spark Generator Test:
Shut OFF heater, disconnect the ignition
lead from the igniter. Using insulated pliers
hold the lead end 1/8” to 3/16” away from
the grounded heater body. Turn ON the
heater and check the strength of the spark.
If spark is weak change the lead. If spark is
still weak replace the spark generator.
At Patio control panel, switch heater ON

Is there 24 volts to the control panel ?
Is there voltage from the control panel to the ig-
nition control module?
Are the Igniters sparking ?
Is there voltage from the ignition control
to combination Gas valve ?
YES
NO
Check electrical wires from ignition con-
trol to combination gas valve.
Check ignition control, replace if
necessary.
