Shield, nail the base to floor of attic and
adjust shield for appropriate insulation
level, then attach the collar at the top
of assembly (Fig. 19). For a chase
enclosure, it may be constructed out of
sheetrock or similar building materials
and framed around the support box
or the pipe, maintaining the clearance
to combustibles as required by the
appliance manufacturer. For vaulted
ceilings a chase enclosure must be
constructed as the Attic Insulation
Shield can not be installed.
