Using Your VAIO Computer

To communicate without an access point (ad-hoc)

Turn on the WIRELESS or WIRELESS LAN switch.
The WIRELESS LAN indicator lights up.

Except in Peru and Venezuela, you cannot select the 5 GHz bandwidth, which is used for the IEEE 802.11a standard, on
ad-hoc networks.

On models that support the Bluetooth functionality

Click Start and then Control Panel.

Click Network and Internet Connections.

The Network Connections window appears.

Right-click Wireless Network Connection, then click Properties.
The Wireless Network Connection Properties window appears.

Select the Wireless Networks tab.

Click the Add… button.
The Wireless network properties window appears.

Enter a network name (SSID)

Select Open from the Network Authentication drop-down box.
