STEP 1
Disconnect the negative battery terminal and place truck on sturdy jackstands.
STEP 2
Carefully disconnect spark plug wires, heat shields and engine bracket to allow access to
exhaust manifold bolts. ( Heat shields and bracket will not be reused.)
STEP 3
Disconnect the EGR tube attached to fitting on passengerside manifold. This tube will be
reinstalled on the BBK header.
STEP 4
From under the truck, carefully remove the four (4) collector nuts attaching the manifolds
to the Y-pipe.
STEP 5
Remove all exhaust manifold bolts and remove manifolds. Clean old gasket material from
head surfaces.
NOTE:
Dipstick tube must be removed with manifolds and the mounting flange side ground
down to fit under the new header bolt.
STEP 6
Apply a small amount of Hi Temp silicone to the header flanges and glue to gaskets to
them. This not only helps in installing the gasket and header but also helps with any leaks.
STEP 7
Install the headers and bolts. Be sure to reinstall the dipstick tube with the header.
Tighten all bolts.
STEP 8
Reinstall spark plugs, wires, EGR connections and any other parts removed for the install.
STEP 9
From under the truck , reconnect the Y-pipe assembly. Use the supplied flat washers,
If necessary, to provide proper spacing under the collector nut in order to not run out of threads
on the stud before the Y-pipe is fully tight.
STEP 10 Reconnect battery cable and start engine to check for any leaks. Header bolts should be
rechecked after a few hundred miles of driving.
