Appendix F – Protocol Converter for Multiple POS


Multiple POS devices can be connected through the RS-232 port of the DVR. Please
refer to

Section 3.2 Optional Connections

for the connections. Please refer to page

22/23 of 7524 Hardware User’s Manual for the pin assignment of I-7523, which is similar
to protocol converter I-7524.

Please note that the RS-485 module address of the protocol converter must be 1, 5, 9 or
13(Hex 0D), and the addresses of the POS devices connected are 1/2/3/4, 5/6/7/8,
9/10/11/12, and 13/14/15/16 respectively. The corresponding cameras for POS device
addresses

following steps:

1.

Connect the protocol converter to the RS-485 network of a host PC. (Please
refer to page 9 in I-7524 Software User’s Manual. RS-232-to-RS-485 converter
can be used in place of 7520.)

2.

Execute 7188X.EXE in the host PC. (Please uncompress the file
\Napdos\MiniOS7\utility\7188xw_20050127.zip in the bundled 7000/7188/8000
CD to get the executable.)

3.

Select the active COM port of the host PC by pressing

Alt-1

for COM1 or

Alt-2

for COM2.

4.

Change the baud rate to 38400 by pressing

Alt-C

first, then enter

b38400

to set

baud rate to 38400.

5.

Change to Line-Command-Mode by pressing

Alt-L

Please note that the other settings for the protocol converter are Baud Rate = 38400, Data
Bit = 8, Stop Bit = 1, and Parity = None. Those settings cannot be changed, and have
nothing to do with the RS-232/422/485 Setup (which is related to the settings of the POS
printers connected).
