BASEBALL BACKSTOP
18.
START WITH THE 12’ ROLLS. STAND THE WIRE ON EDGE AND PLACE THE FABRIC SO IT IS
CENTERED ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE FRAME AND JUST ENOUGH ABOVE THE BOTTOM ARCH SO
THE TENSION BARS CAN BE INSTALLED. PUT TIE WIRES ON THE CENTER RIB AND THE FABRIC.
STRECH THE FABRIC AROUND THE BOTTOM AS BEST AS YOU CAN AND INSTALL THE TENSION
BARS IN THE BOTTOM AND ATTACH BARS TO TENSION BANDS.
19.
WHEN THE BOTTOM COURSE IS SUFFICIENTLY TIGHT, INSTALL TENSION BARS AND BANDS ON THE
FRONT ARCH AND CUT THE EXCESS FABRIC OFF ON THE BIAS. THE BOTTOM OF THIS COURSE
WILL BE EASILY STRECHED AND THE TOP WILL NOT BE REAL TIGHT. IT WILL REQUIRE A BIAS CUT
ON THE TOP OF THE COURES WHERE IT MEETS THE FRONT ARCH. IT DOESN’T GET EASIER THAN
THIS.
20.
UNROLL THE SECOND 8’ WIDE ROLL OF FABRIC. PLACE IT IN THE CENTER OF THE BACKSTOP
LIKE ABOVE. SLIDE IT UP THE BACKSTOP UNTIL THERE IS APPROXIMATLEY 6” OVERLAP TO THE
BOTTOM COURSE. STRECH THIS COURSE AS BEST YOU CAN LIKE ABOVE AND HOG TIE THE
OVERLAP TO THE BOTTOM COURSE. THIS COURSE WILL HAVE TO BE BIAS CUT AT THE ENDS
BEFORE THE TENSION BARS CAN BE INSTALLED. THERE IS SUBSTANTIAL WASTE ON EACH END.
21.
PLACE THE 12’ WIDE 11 ga. FABRIC ON THE TOP AND INSERT THE TENSION BARS. STRECH THE
FABRIC DOWN TO OVERLAP THE SECOND COURSE AND HOGTIE THE TWO TOGETHER. IT
SHOULD LOOK PRETTY GOOD BY NOW. IF IT DOESN’T, GO BACK AND MAKE IT RIGHT.
22.
TIE THE FABRIC TO THE RIBS USING TIE WIRE. CLEAN UP AND YOU ARE DONE.
