Setup Guide — MDA 4V SDI/HD-SDI
This card provides quick start instructions for an experienced
installer to set up and operate an Extron MDA 4V SDI
or MDA 4V HD-SDI distribution amplifier.
Installation
Step 1 — Mounting
Turn off or disconnect all equipment power sources and mount the MDA as required.

MDA 4V SDI — Connect an SDI video source to the SDI Input BNC.
MDA 4V HD-SDI — Connect an HD-SDI video source to the Input BNC.

MDA 4V SDI — Connect up to four SDI video devices to the SDI Outputs BNCs.
MDA 4V HD-SDI — Connect up to four HD-SDI video devices to the Outputs BNCs.

Connect an IEC power cord between the included 12 V
power supply and a 100 VAC/240 VAC, 50-60 Hz source.
Connect the power supply to the MDA as shown at right.
Operation
After all devices are powered up, the system is fully operational.
If any problems are encountered, verify that the cables are routed
and connected properly. If your problems persist, call the Extron
S 3 Sales & Technical Support Hotline that is closest to you at the
number shown below.

Power LED (both MDAs) —
Indicates power is applied.

Rate LEDs (MDA 4V HD-SDI
only) — Light to indicate the
detected input video rate on the
HD-SDI input BNC connector.
The recognized rates are 270 Mbps,
1.485 Gbps, or 2.97 Gbps.

Unknown LED (MDA 4V HD-SDI
only) — Indicates that an input is detected on the HD-SDI input BNC connector but
that the MDA did not recognize the rate.
N The MDA equalizes and distributes the input regardless of whether the rate is recognized or
not.
