This guide provides basic instructions for an
experienced installer to set up and operate the
Extron
®
IN3254 Distribution Amplifier (DA).
C Installation and service must be performed
by authorized personnel only.
Step 1 — Turn off the DA and input/output devices
Turn the input and output devices off and unplug their power cords. Verify that the DA is
disconnected from the power source before proceeding.
Step 2 — Attach input cables
Connect an RGBHV, RGBS, RGsB, RsGsBs, component video, S-video, or composite video
device to these BNC connectors (

). See figure 1 for information on how to cable the
BNC connectors.
Step 3 — Attach output cables
Connect up to four RGBHV, RGBS, RGsB, RsGsBs, component video, S-video, high
resolution monochrome video, or composite video output devices, such as projectors or
monitors, to these BNC connectors (

). See figure 1 for information on how to cable the
BNC connectors.
Step 4 — Power on DA, input/output devices, and check for picture
Plug the external power supply cord into the power connector (
a
). When power is
applied to the unit, the front and rear panel LEDs (
b
) light.
Connect the power cords and turn on the input and output devices. The picture should
appear on the video displays.

The output signal(s) must match the input signal. If the picture does not appear, check
that the BNCs for the output(s) and input are connected with an identical signal.
Step 5 — Adjust video gain and sync level
Use the sync and gain DIP switches (
e
) to select either high or low video gain and sync
level. Adjust video gain while viewing the displayed image to set the level that provides
the best picture quality.
