CONNECT AND OPERATE
Connect the signal source such as Blu-Ray Player, Play Station 3, audio/video receiver, cable or satellite
receivers and computers equipped with HDMI output interfaces with a short high-speed HDMI cable to the
HDMI splitter input.
Connect the splitter output RJ-45 ports using dual-runs of Cat 5e or Cat 6 UTP cables to included receivers,
which do not require a power supply. It is strongly recommended that factory terminated cable assemblies be
used and their length shall not exceed 100 ft of Cat 5e and 110 ft of Cat 6.
Connect the HDMI output from the receivers to high-definition display devices such as HD-LCD, HD-DLP
and HD projectors with HDMI input interfaces. Use high-speed HDMI cables that are recommended for the
distances that are required for each connection.
These splitters are powered by an external power supply which is included. Connect power first to the source,
then to the splitters and then to each HD TV or projector.
The splitter can be controlled from the display. This is accomplished by using an optional IR Receiver pigtail
(Part # 280721) pointing away from the display(s), which can be connected to the receiver boxes at each
display. The IR Transmitter pigtail (Part # 280720) is then connected to the splitter and pointed at the
source(s). A remote control is used at the display to select the splitter inputs and outputs.
In switches and splitters with multiple inputs, the Super IR system can also be used to control the operation
of the switch or splitter. For controlling the switch or splitter operating with multiple sources, it is important
that these sources be stacked together in one rack so that any of the individual IR Transmitters can illuminate
any of the IR receivers built into the sources. This will allow the remote that is supplied to switch the sources
sending an HDMI signal to a display.
When using cable television or satellite receivers and audio/video receivers as sources of HDMI signals, please
check with the manufacturer to make sure that the output of their device provides the 5 VDC power required
for the proper operation of both the HDMI signal as well as the Super IR system. Too low of a voltage will
adversely affect the operation of both.
While playing HD audio and video content, turn on each HD TV set in order starting with that connected to
output port 1 on the splitter and use the “Information” button on the remote to check for a 1080p/60 Hz, 120
Hz or 24 Hz resolution. If you have difficulty getting a picture, go to the TV’s “set-up menu” and adjust the
resolution. A 24 Hz vertical refresh rate may work better than a 60 Hz or higher, vertical refresh rate and is
currently used for 3-D programming.
