3.2 Letting Your System Recognize

the Drive

For your system to recognize the new CD-ROM drive, you

need an appropriate driver to act as the system’s “eye

opener.” Because your new CD-ROM is a plug-and-play

device, in normal cases either Windows 95 or OS/2 Warp

should have no problem recognizing it with the OS’s

built-in standard IDE CD-ROM driver. Users of DOS

and Windows 3.1, however, need to install a supplied

device driver. Even so, the installation procedure

is easy and takes less than three minutes.
