Troubleshooting
Problem Cause Solution
PhotoMAX
software does
not see the PDC
640 Digital
Camera. • The power to the
camera was not
turned on before you
powered on the
computer.
• The serial cable is
not connected
properly to the
computer.
• Ensure that you turn
on the camera and
then your turn on
your computer.
Ensure that the AC
power adapter is
connected to the
power socket on the
camera and to an AC
power outlet.
• Connect one end of
the serial cable to the
RS232 serial port on
the back of the
computer and
connect the other end
of the cable to the
serial cable port on
the PDC 640. Make
sure the cables are
attached firmly to the
camera and the back
of the computer.
No power. • Lens cover is not
open.
• Batteries are not
loaded correctly.
• Dead batteries.
• Wrong AC adapter.
• Slide the lens cover to
the right.
• Position the + and -
terminals correctly in
the battery
compartment.
• Replace the batteries.
• Use the
recommended AC
adapter.
