Symptom

Cause
The remaining blank space on the disc is
insufficient.
The source you are trying to record is copy-
protected.
When setting the recording channel, the
channel is tuned on the TV’s own tuner.
When recording to a Video mode disc, pro-
grams that are copy-once protected cannot
be recorded.
Clock in Recorder Combi Receiver is not set
to correct time.
Timer has been programmed
incorrectly.
TIMER indicator light does not appear after
programming timer.
TV is not Stereo-compatible.
Broadcast program is not in stereo format.
Recorder Combi Receiver A/V Out jacks are
not connected to TV A/V In jacks.
Recorder Combi Receiver Audio/Video Out is
not selected for viewing at the TV.
Recorder Combi Receiver’s TV audio chan-
nel is set to SAP or MONO.
The Remote Control is not pointed at the
remote sensor of the Recorder Combi
Receiver.
The Remote Control is too far from the
Recorder Combi Receiver.
There is an obstacle in the path of the
Remote Control and the Recorder Combi
Receiver.
The batteries in the Remote Control are
weak or dead.
The antenna is positioned or connected
poorly.
The signal strength of the stations is too
weak (when tuning in with automatic tuning).
No stations have been preset or preset sta-
tions have been cleared (when
tuning by scanning preset stations).
Solution
Use another disc.
You cannot record the source.
Select the channel on the Recorder Combi
Receiver’s built-in TV tuner.
Use a VR mode formatted disc for copy-once
material.
Set clock to correct time. See “Auto Clock
Set” or “Manual Clock Set” on page 27.
Reprogram Timer. See “Timer Recording” on
page 46.

Make A/V connections. Stereo is available
only via A/V output from Recorder Combi
Receiver.
Select AUX or A/V source as TV input.
Set TV audio channel mode to Stereo. See
“Changing TV Audio Channel” on page 35.
Point the Remote Control at the remote sen-
sor of the Recorder Combi Receiver.
Operate the Remote Control
within 23 ft (7 m).
Remove the obstacle.
Replace the batteries with new ones.
Connect the antenna securely.
Adjust the antennas and connect an external
antenna if necessary.
Tune in the station manually.
Preset the stations (page 68).
Reset the Recorder Combi Receiver
If you observe any of the following symptoms...
When the Recorder Combi Receiver is plugged in, but the power will not turn on or off.
When the display window does not working.
When the Recorder Combi Receiver does not operate normally.
You can reset the Recorder Combi Receiver as follows :
Press and hold the POWER button for more than five seconds. This will force the Recorder Combi Receiver to power off.
Press the POWER button again to turn the Recorder Combi Receiver back on.
Unplug the power cord and then plug the power cord again after more than five seconds.
