Chapter 4: Ports and Trunking
Use the following command to check whether the ports are trunked:
ex2500# show lacp information
Static LACP
Static LACP allows you to configure the trunk ID manually. Instead of forming
dynamically, the static LACP trunk awaits LACP participation from the partner
switch.
You can set a static LACP trunk ID when you configure a port. All member ports in
a static LACP trunk must share the same configuration parameters, including LACP
admin key and LACP trunk (portchannel) ID.
If a member port cannot aggregate into the static LACP trunk, it is placed into
suspended mode. Ports in suspended mode do not pass data traffic.
The total number of trunk IDs available for both static trunks and static LACP trunks
is 12. Static LACP trunks share the trunk IDs available for all static trunks (1–12).
LACP Configuration Guidelines
Consider the following guidelines when you configure LACP trunks:
All ports in a trunk must share the same configuration parameters—except
LACP mode—including LACP admin key and trunk ID. A trunk’s parameters are
copied from its member ports.
When parameters for VLANs, Spanning Tree, storm control, or ACLs are
changed on a port, those changes are applied to all other ports that share the
same LACP admin key.
If a port’s configuration parameters—for example, the port VLAN ID
(PVID)—are changed when it becomes a member of an LACP trunk, the
parameters are retained when the port is removed from the trunk.
The range of potential dynamic LACP trunk IDs is 13 through 36.
After a dynamic LACP trunk is formed, the trunk ID changes only under the
following conditions:
The system priority is changed.
The switch is reset.
Configuring LACP
Use the following procedure to configure LACP for port 7 and port 8 to participate
in link aggregation.
NOTE:
Be sure to set the LACP mode last. Otherwise, the system prevents
configuration.
