See page 4 for Heating Cable System Terminology and page 5 for Heating Cable System Key

1. Jacuzzi Floor Warming System Mats are available in a variety of sizes. Various floor areas

may be warmed with a single product or by using a combination of products.

Do not alter the length of the heating cable to suit a floor area larger or smaller

than the recommended range for that mat.

Ensure that the mat you have chosen is the correct size and voltage.
2. The mat can be re-shaped to fit a floor area different than its original (rectangular) shape.

However, the total floor area that the mat can heat may NOT be altered.

3. The mat supports strands are on TOP of the mat; the mat mesh is laid directly on

the floor.

4. The Jacuzzi floor warming Mat can be configured to fit the heated area. When doing

so, don’t space the heating cables closer than 1-

/

2

", as this can cause the cable to over-

heat, and do not use spacing that is larger than 3", as the floor will not warm to a comfort-

able temperature.

5. All cold leads and the power supply must terminate and be connected within an appropri-

ate electrical connection box. The Electrical Connection Box (ECB) must be of sufficient

volume to accommodate the wiring/connectors associated with the thermostat/control,

cold leads and power supply wiring. Depending on the installation, this typically requires a

box of at least 15 cu. in. Check with your local electrical inspector to verify that the box

you have chosen is of adequate size and if conduit is required for cold leads.

6. Thermal insulation of space below the floor to be heated is optional. It is, however, re-

quired that insulation be installed where the temperature of the underlying space is ex-

pected to be less than 50°F/10°C. This will reduce energy consumption and improve the

performance of your Jacuzzi floor warming system. Where possible, it is also recom-

mended to insulate above the cold air return ducts under the floor.

7. The heating cable and factory splice joining it to the cold lead must be embedded in a

masonry base (cementituous based mortar).

8 It is recommended that the Jacuzzi Floor Warming System be the only load on the power

supply circuit. Consult with your local electrical professional.

9. Check and write down the resistance of each mat (and the sensor wire if applicable). The

resistance of the heating mat wire should be greater than 10 ohms but less that 380 ohms.
Testing in accordance with Step 2 Verification of Chapter 4, pg. 12, it is also recommended
immediately after the system is laid prior to covering with mortar. Use an ohm meter for
this test check. Do not energize! NOTE: If you measure zero or infinite ohms contact
Customer Service at 1-800-872-7277.

10. If a thermostat is used to control the system, install the thermostat sensor wire at the

same time as the heating mat installation, as it must also be embedded in the cementituous

based mortar.
