v-Belt Tension
to ensure optimum power transmission from the
motor to the blade, the v-belt must be in good
condition and operate under proper tension.
v-belt tension should be checked at least every
month—more often if the bandsaw is used daily. if
the belt shows signs of cracks, fraying, and exces-
sive wear, replace it as instructed in the
Service
section later in this manual.
checking v-Belt Tension
1. diSConneCt BAndSAW From poWer!
2. open the lower wheel cover.
3. the v-belt is properly tensioned if there is
approximately

" deflection of the v-belt
when you apply moderate pressure to it
between the pulleys (see the illustration in the
following figure).
— if the v-belt is not properly tensioned,
perform the following

To properly tension the v-belt:
1. diSConneCt BAndSAW From poWer!
2. open the lower wheel cover and loosen the
motor adjustment and hinge cap screws
shown in
figure 59.
3. push the motor to the left (as viewed from the
front of the machine) until there is approxi-
mately

" deflection in the v-belt between the
pulley when moderate pressure is applied.
4. re-tighten both cap screws and close the
wheel cover.
