Setting Up Groups for Broadcasting
Groups allow you to send the same fax message to many fax numbers by pressing only one One
Touch Group key and Fax Start (FAX-2850) or five keys (Search/Speed Dial, #, the two-digit
location, and Fax Start). You can store up to six of the Groups on your One Touch keys (FAX-
2850) or Speed Dial, and then broadcast by pressing only the One Touch key (FAX-2850) or
Search/Speed Dial, #, the two-digit location (and Fax Start). First, you’ll need to store each fax
number as a One Touch or Speed Dial number. Then, you can combine them into a Group. Each
Group uses up a One Touch or Speed Dial number. You can have up to six Groups, or you can assign
up to 107 (FAX-2850) or 99 (MFC-4800) numbers to one large Group. (See Storing One Touch Dial
Numbers (For FAX-2850 Only), page 14 and Storing Speed Dial Numbers, page 15.)

For the FAX, press Menu/Set, 2, 3, 3.
For the MFC, press Menu/Set, 2, 3, 2.

Storing the Group as a Speed Dial Number.
Press Search/Speed Dial, and then enter the two-
digit location where you wish to store the Group
number, and then press Menu/Set.
(For example, press Search/Speed Dial, 07.)

Storing the Group on a One Touch key.
For the FAX-2850, press a One Touch key where you wish to store the Group number, and then
press Menu/Set.
(For example, press One Touch key 2.)

Use the dial pad to enter the Group number, and then press Menu/Set.
(For example, press 1 for Group 1.)

To include One Touch or Speed Dial numbers in the
Group, enter them as if you were dialling. For example,
for One Touch Dial key 5, press One Touch Dial key 5.
For Speed Dial location 09, press
Search/Speed Dial, then press 0, 9 on the dial pad.
The LCD shows

Press Menu/Set. The screen prompts you to enter a name.

Use the dial pad to enter a name for the group (for example, NEW CLIENTS) and press
Menu/Set. (See Entering Text, page 147.)

Press Stop/Exit.
You can print a list of all One Touch and Speed Dial numbers. Group numbers will
be marked in the column of “GROUP”. (See Printing Reports, page 28.)
