ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

Follow steps of assembly in the order presented.

Gas Valve Support Bracket & Burner

1. Attach gas valve support bracket to holes near edge

of canopy with nuts & bolts provided.

2. Align center holes of canopy with holes in top of

burner assembly. IMPORTANT: Keep pilot guide
on underside of burner aligned with gas valve
support bracket on canopy during this step.

3. Align hanging bracket with hole in canopy exactly as

shown in Diagram 1.

4. Install screws. Tighten screws securely.
5. Fasten gas valve support bracket and hanging bracket

together with a 1/4" bolt and nut.

Burner Orifice, Dust Screen, Catch Plate

1. Insert head of burner orifice into bottom of burner.
2. Rotate orifice until gas fitting of orifice aligns with

pilot guide on burner.

3. Insert lock screw into threaded hole in side of burner.

Tighten screw firmly to lock orifice in place.

4. Hold dust screen in place around orifice. Fasten

catch plate onto bottom of burner orifice with washer
& bolt. Tighten bolt securely.

Burner Gas Tubing & Gas Valve

1. Lift dust screen upward to gain access to gas fitting

on burner orifice.

2. Remove nut from orifice gas fitting. Be careful to

retain ferrule when nut is removed.

3. Slide ferrule & nut onto longer bend of tubing.
4. Point shorter bend of tubing upward toward gas

valve support bracket located on canopy. Insert
longer bend of tubing into gas fitting of burner
orifice. Slide nut & ferrule against fitting. Tighten
nut securely. NOTE: Do not over-tighten nut as this
may cause ferrule to crimp tubing.

5. Unscrew nut from bottom of gas valve assembly. Be

careful to retain ferrule when nut is removed.

6. Slide nut & ferrule onto open end of gas tubing.
7. Hold gas valve assembly above the hole in the gas

valve support bracket that is attached to canopy.
Insert end of gas tubing through hole in support
bracket and into the bottom fitting of gas valve
assembly.

8. Slide ferrule & nut against gas valve fitting. Tighten

nut securely.

9. Make sure dust screen is in place over gas fitting &

gas tube assembly.

Pilot Igniter Bracket

1. Align left-hand edge of pilot igniter bracket with

left-hand edge of pilot guide.

2. Attach igniter bracket to pilot guide with washer &

bolt.

Gas Tubing & Pilot Orifice

1. Unscrew one-piece nut & ferrule from pilot orifice.

2. Slide one-piece nut & ferrule onto end of gas tube

(0403-4471) used for pilot.

3. Insert gas tube into fitting of pilot orifice. Slide nut &

ferrule against fitting. Tighten nut securely.
NOTE: Do not over-tighten nut as this may cause ferrule
to crimp tubing.

4. Unscrew one-piece nut & ferrule from gas valve fitting.
5. Slide one-piece nut & ferrule onto open end of gas tubing.
6. Insert gas tubing into gas valve fitting. Slide one-piece

nut & ferrule against fitting. Tighten nut securely.

7. Insert pilot orifice into pilot support bracket.
8. Secure pilot orifice with pilot nut.

Thermocouple

1. Attach

thermocouple

wire to gas valve connector.

2. Press thermocouple into square hole of pilot support

bracket until thermocouple snaps into place. NOTE: The
extra thermocouple wire length is provided to permit
quick removal and maintenance. The excess wire should
be coiled near the gas valve assembly.

Igniter Shield

1. Insert igniter shield through hole in igniter bracket.
2. Press hooks in back of igniter shield through slots in

bracket and lock into place. CAUTION! IGNITER
SHIELD BECOMES EXTREMELY HOT WHEN
HEATER IS OPERATING. DO NOT TOUCH
IGNITER SHIELD UNTIL HEATER IS COOL.

Maintenance Notes

1.

Your infrared brooder should be inspected before each use and
at least annually by a qualified service person.

2. The appliance area should be kept clear and free from

combustible materials, gasoline, and other flammable liquids
and vapors.

3. The gas hose should be inspected prior to each use of the

brooder. If it is evident there is excessive abrasion or wear, or
the hose is cut, it must be replaced prior to brooder being put
into operation.

4. The flow of combustion and ventilation air must not be

obstructed.

5.

Inspect brooder and gas connections periodically for gas leaks
with an approved gas leak testing solution (soap and water
work well).

6. The burner and pilot orifice must be kept clean and free of

carbon deposits at all times.

7.

The brooder must be cool before wash down. Do not operate
for one hour following wash down.
