Lap Belt Installation
Short Route
Figure A illustrates a typical short route lap
belt installation.
WARNING:
•
Always use recline bar when installing
restraint in vehicle using short route with
vehicle lap belt.
•
Do not install this restraint using a
non-locking ELR vehicle belt, unless a
belt shortening clip is used. Refer to the
vehicle owner's manual for instructions
on correct use of vehicle belts with child
restraints.

Insert recline bar into holes on rear of
restraint (see page 20).

Place the child restraint in a forward
facing position on the vehicle seat.

Pull the vehicle belt out, then pass it through
the first belt slot, from the rear of the restraint
to the front (Fig. B).

Route the vehicle belt under the cover
then through the second belt slot,
from the front of the restraint to the
rear (Fig. C).

Verify that the vehicle belt is not
twisted, then buckle (Fig. D).

While kneeling on the restraint to push
it firmly into the vehicle backrest,
remove all slack from the vehicle belt.

Verify that the vehicle belt is tight and
the child restraint is secure (Fig. E).
Installation can be improved by the use of
the Versa-Tether
®
(see pages 18–19).
IMPORTANT:
•
Always use the Versa-Tether for
children weighing more than 50
pounds (22.6 kg).
Removal
Reverse installation procedure.
