30. Push the seal on with two fi ngers or, use your two
thumbs. Making sure it is seating correctly.
Note: If the backplate is removed for whatever reason, it
would help to install the seal before installing the
backplate onto the engine.
29. Using a torque wrench with a special Allen socket,
torque the bolts to a specifi ed value of 12 to 15 ft. lbs.
31. Reinstall the rotating half of the mechanical seal.
Note: Placing a small amount of soapy water on the
sealing lip will aid in reinstallation and keep the
seal from tearing.
32. Re-install the spring in either direction.
