Before assembly

The solar panel installed in the article converts sunlight into electrical
energy and stores it in a NiMh battery. Switches on the light as it
begins to get dark. The in-built light-emitting diodes are a very
long-life and energy-saving light source. The light duration de-
pends on the amount of sunlight, the angle of light on the solar
panel and the temperature (the battery capacity is temperature-de-
pendent). A vertical angle of light at temperatures above the freez-
ing point is ideal. The battery does not achieve maximum capacity
until after several charge and discharge cycles.

Inserting / replacing

Set the ON / OFF switch

to “OFF”.

Screw the nuts

anti-clockwise off the cover

Remove the cover

and take the solar element

carefully

out of the lamp

(see Fig. B). Make sure that you do not

damage the solar element

and/or its cable.

nOtE: The solar element

is connected to the battery

compartment

Insert the rechargeable batteries

into the battery compart-

ment

. Ensure correct polarity. This is indicated in the battery

compartment

Insert the solar element

back into the lamp

Replace the cover

back onto the lamp

and fix it in

place by tightening the nuts

again in a clockwise direction.
