OPERATION
Fuel Recommendations
110 Octane
The fuel used in your Polaris engine is as important to engine life and
performance as the lubricant used. Always use 110 octane fuel for the
440 IQ snowmobile. If the appropriate head kit has been installed, 92
octane may be used, but always adjust the timing as outlined in the kit
instructions to prevent engine damage.
CAUTION
Using fuels with a lower than recommended octane or operating
with obstructed fuel systems will result in serious and costly
engine damage. Always use the recommended fuels for your
machine.
92 Octane
If the Polaris 92 Octane Cylinder
Head Kit is installed on the
snowmobile, 92 octane fuel may
be used. Make sure the timing
box is set to the “E” position.
CAUTION
Serious engine damage will
occur when using 92
octane fuel if the timing
isn’t set properly. Always

using 92 octane fuel.
