This is a GT5 quick start check sheet that helps to remind you of the key parameters.
The other parameters are suggested to remain as factory default setting during initial setup.

As the satellite LED begins flashing, activate the Spektrum icon to start the binding process.
Press and hold the bind button as the transmitter is turned on. Binding is completed when the
satellite LED remains solid (non-blinking).
Values range from: 0-130. Please set the collective pitch value to adjust the best angle of attack
with pitch gauge. This depends upon user preference and the size of the helicopter as well. We
suggest a the starting point of 95.
Values range from 10-80. Suggested starting point: 20. Carefully move all sticks to full throw(travel)
simultaneously. Watch for any binding that might occur. Increase or decrease the values accordingly
so that the swash plate moves freely in all directions without any binding.

The default setting is “Standard” at factory for ACE RC, Hitec
and Futaba normal receivers. Please reset properly to
accommodate user’s radio if “not equal” shown.
For setting up the swashplate frequency, use 50Hz for
analog servos and 166Hz (or higher) for digital servos. Most
tail rotor servos can be set to 166Hz and 1500us. Some
narrow pulse digital tail rotor servos can be set to 760us or
970us. Please check with your manufacturer specifications,
improper settings can and will damage servos.
In your trasmitter, set your swashplate type to H-1 or NORM
or 1-SERVO. Then select the swashplate type in your GT5 to
120 degrees, 135 degrees, eCCPM or Mechanical Mix per
your helicopters swashplate control type.
SW1, SW2, SW3 only change individual servo travel
direction. Use Servo Reverse function in transmitter to
change swashplate cyclic and collective control directions.
Align rotor blades parallel to tail boom and measure cyclic
pitch when giving aileron stick input. Increase/decrease this
value until you can measure exactly 8° of cyclic pitch when
giving 100% stick input. Alternately you also can measure
the pitch for elevator when the rotor blade to measure is
positioned 90° to the tail boom.
This parameter sets gyro sensor feedback directions. To
check: 1- the swashplate should tilt back when the helicopter
nose tilts down; 2- the swashplate should tilt left when the
helicopter rolls right; 3- the tail rotor should give more
rightward thrust when helicopter nose moves to left.
This parameter is best tested by performing a Pirouette
during hover by an experienced pilot. Choose norm as a
start. Helicopter should remain level during the Pirouette
maneuver. If helicopter starts wobbling or tilting during
Pirouette, then change to rev. NOTE: You can test this by
holding the helicopter with the nose down and note
swashplate tilt. Rotating the helicopter about its center
access with the nose down the swashplate shold remain in
the same tilt postion.
Swashplate P value and Tail rotor P value (P GAINS) are
feedback gains for determining main rotor stability and tail
rotor stability. Swashplate (SW P) and Tail (TAIL P) are set
separately. In general, low P values will result in poor hover
stability and sluggish cyclic control as well as slow tail
responce. Excessive SW P and Tail P values will cause the
helicopter to oscillate rapidly. Try 70 for SW P and 60 for Tail
P as starting point then fine tune during initial hover testing.
Increase P value by 10 points at one time until you are
satisfied with stability and control response rate. If helicopter
body starts oscillating, then reduce P value by 5 points at a
time until oscillation stops.
For GT5, it is necessary to use a 6 or 7 channel radio
system. Channel 5 (CH-5) or channel 7 (AUX-2) can be used
to modify swashplate P gain values as well as tail rotor P
gain values simultaneously. NOTE: If using CH-5 please INH
(disable) the gyro function within the radio system. Please
select two total percentage values 60 and 100 on your
transmitters end point adjustment (EPA) on the selected
channel. This will allow you to switch between the two
different P gain settings during flight. You can witness the a
perntage change on the display of the GT5 by viewing the
percntage value in the lower center of the unit.
