Open the Telephone Network Interface box and, if required by normal operating practices, open the Telephone
Company Access side compartment. Locate a mounting stud. If none is available, you must add one to mount the
NID-01V. Adjust the stud’s lower nut so that the NID-01V will just rest on the base of the compartment. Place the
NID-01V as shown with the IDC connectors (Phone, Line and Modem) upright. Tighten the top nut until the NID-
01V is secured in place.
Grounding
The NID-01V does not require an earth ground.
Connectors
The NID-01V has three connectors:
• Modem –connect to the customer’s ADSL / VDSL2 modem.
• Line –connect to the line coming from the central office.
• Phone - connect to the customer’s telephone.
Open each of the connector lids (approximately 45
o
). Carefully observing the proper orientation of the Tip-Ring
leads, insert each pair of wires into the appropriate IDC connector about ½ inches and press the lid closed. (Note:
each IDC connector can accommodate only one pair of wires.)
Note: if the pair of wires that is being used has been previously used, cut-off approximately ½ inch from the ends
before inserting into the IDC connectors on the NID-01V.
Testing the NID-01V
To test the NID-01V for correct operation, simply lift the handset of the phone connected to the Phone port on the
splitter - you should hear dial tone. If the ADSL / VDSL2 modem is correctly connected to the Modem Port on the
NID-01V, the modem status light should be illuminated indicating ADSL / VDSL2 service. You may have to refer to
the ADSL / VDSL2 modem users guide to correctly interpret the meaning of its status indicators
Incorrect Operation
If the unit does not appear to function correctly, check your set up paying close attention to the above Installation
Guidelines. If the unit still fails to operate, replace it and return it to your service centre for warranty replacement.
Warranty
The NID-01V is covered by a 3-year warranty under normal operating conditions. Defective units should be
returned to Comtest Networks Inc. where they will be replaced or repaired and returned to the user. The NID-01V
contains no user serviceable parts. Opening the plastic housing voids the warranty and may expose the user to
hazardous voltages.
