PROFIBUS bus connectors up to 12 MBaud
- ZB3100 with connectable terminator
- ZB3101 with connectable terminator and programming interface
Installation instructions
The Profibus connectors ZB3100 and ZB3101 serve to connect Profibus stations on the Profibus.
Besides featuring a module interface, the ZB3101 also has a programming interface for connecting
PG units, for example.
Note:
In a Profibus system, the first and last respective stations on the bus must feature a connectable
terminator. The terminator is activated by the slide switch in the connector.

stations (terminator not active)
1. Stripping the bus cables
Strip the bus cable to the lengths given in
Figure 3.
Note:
Only one bus cable leads to the first and

2. Fitting the bus cable
The bus cable can be routed from above (Figure 5) or from
the side (ZB3100 only, Figure 4) into the connector (Figure
6 shows insertion of the bus cable from the side). Please
follow the steps given below when fitting the bus cable:
1) Open the connector housing by undoing the two housing
screws 1.
2) Undo the two pull relief screws 2.
3) Connect the connecting wires to the corresponding
terminals (in doing so, always assign the corresponding
wire pairs to one connection terminal, e.g. black wire of
cable 1 and black wire of cable 2 is connected to the 2 A
sockets). To open the terminal contacts, press into the
corresponding opening 3 from above with a screwdriver.
4) Press the two cables in to the pull relief guide 4 and
screw the two pull relief halves together (pay attention to
good screen contact).
5) Make sure that the slide switch 5 for the terminators is in
the right position (see above).
6) Firmly screw down the cover again.
