7. Appendix – Other Utility Softwares for NuStreams-600i/2000i
There are several other optional utility softwares for NuStreams-600i/2000i for different kinds of test
requirements. The following section contains brief descriptions of these utility softwares.
NuApps-2889-RM: RFC 2889 Benchmark Test Utility
Designed for Xtramus Technologies XM-RM series module cards, NuApps-2889-RM is an application
that’s designed base on RFC 2889 for analyzing Ethernet switches, bridges, and routers.
NuApps-2889-RM’s multiple topologies and the load-generating capabilities provide an effective way to
evaluate DUT’s on subjects such as Error Filtering, Forwarding, Broadcast Forwarding, Broadcast Latency,
Forward Pressure, Address Learning, Address Caching and Congestion Control. With its real-time display
of test results and various customizable report formats that allow users to view the test data and organize
them into an appropriate form for debug, report, and record, NuApps-2889-RM is the best solution for RFC
2889 Benchmarking Methodology.
APMPT-4: Test Utility for Network Device Manufacturing
APMPT-4’s 1-to-Many function is designed for EoC/EPON products, allowing users to perform Layer 2
MAC/VLAN address unicast/multicast performance tests from one source to multiple ports with different
media types (such as 100 Mbps and 1000Mbps Full). With APMPT-4’s Stream Counters and its capabilities
of generating one data stream containing various test parameters, users can shorten the time consumed
for testing products significantly, and acquire more detailed/precise test reports. All these benefits and
advantages make APMPT-4 and its 1-to-Many functions the most complete testing solutions for
EoC/EPON products.
NuApps-QoS-RM: QoS-Testing Layer 2 & 3
Network QoS (quality of service) is a way to classify the transmission priority of packets while the volume of
to-be transmitted packets is beyond the Ethernet switch or router’s throughput capability. Packets with
higher priorities are processed and transmitted first. For Ethernet frame, each packets can be tagged with
a VLAN ID and CoS (class od service), and Layer 3 IP/UDP packets are marked according to the type of
service they need. For Ethernet switch or router that supports QoS, packets with higher CoS priority should
be transmitted first if network traffic is congested. NuApps-QoS-RM can limit acceptable network traffic at
receiving port, analyze the traffic distribution of packets with different priority received from DUT (router or
switch), and test the performance of Layer 3 Router, Switch with QoS function.
NuApps-SwitchPerform: Ethernet Switch, Network Interface Card (NIC), and Network Video Player
Test Utility
NuApps-SwitchPerform is an utility software designed for analyzing Ethernet switch, network interface
cards from PC/Notebook and network video player. NuApps-SwitchPerform’s load-generating capabilities
provide an effective way to evaluate DUT’s (Device Under Test) Utilization, Throughput, Packet Loss, CRC
Error, and Latency with its three different modes: Network Switch, PC/Notebook, and Others (Network
Video Player). Also, NuApps-SwitchPerform’s Burst function allows packets to be generated and sent in a
burst manner for the set amount of time, stop, and start generating and sending packets in a burst manner
