ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT: This unit is shipped WITHOUT GASOLINE
or OIL. After assembly, service engine with gasoline and
oil as instructed in the separate engine manual packed
with your unit.

NOTE: Reference to right or left hand side of the mower is
observed from the operating position.

UNPACKING

1.

Remove the lawn mower from the carton by opening the

top flaps and lifting the unit out. Be careful of the staples.

Make certain all parts and literature have been removed

from the carton before the carton is discarded.

2.

Disconnect and ground the spark plug wire against the

engine.

3.

Stretch out controi cables and piace on the floor. Be

careful not to bend or kink the cables at any time during

assembly.

4.

Remove page four from this manual and lay the contents

of the hardware pack according to the illustration for iden­

tification.

AHACHING THE LOWER HANDLE (Hardware A)

NOTE: Your mower handle can be raised or lowered for your
mowing comfort by assembling the lower handle in the desired

-position. See figure 1.

Lay upper handie on work surface behind mower and

position brake cable so it is on the outside of deck mount­

ing bracket as shown.

2.

Select HIGH or LOW position for the handles. HIGH posi­

tion (recommended) will put the upper handle approx­

imately

37

inches

from

the

ground

with

the

wheels

adjusted in the mid-position. LOW position is approx­

imately 34 inches from the ground. Position lower han­

dle in desired position by turning handle over so desired

HIGH or LOW reading is upwards.

3.

Loosely attach one leg of lower handle to handle bracket

with 3/4" long hex bolt, 3/8" flat washer and hex lock

nut as shown in figure 1. Do not tighten.

NOTE: Be sure hex bolt is assembled from outside of bracket

as shown.

4. Repeat assembly for opposite side of lower handle.

5.

Now tighten aii bolts and nuts securely on both sides of

lower handle.

AHACHING THE UPPER HANDLE (Hardware B)

1.

Place the upper handle in position over the lower han­

dle. The blade control handle (attached to the upper han­

dle) must be on top of the handle.

2.

Secure the upper handle to the lower handle using the

curved head bolts, curved washers and hand knobs as

shown in figure 2. Tighten knobs securely.

3.

Secure cables to lower handle with cable tie provided.

Trim excess end of cable tie.

AHACHING THE STARTER RDPE (Hardware C)

Assemble the starter rope to the cross bar of the lower han­

dle using J-boit, two rope guide halves and hex nuts (may

be assembled either above or below handle, as desired). See

-figure 3. Tighten nut securely.

NOTE: if additional rope is needed, proceed as follows.
Disconnect and ground the spark plug wire, depress the blade
control handle and pull more rope out from the engine.
